GLAM GIRLS GUIDE TO SPORTS CREATOR ANGIE MEYER WITH QUINTON AARON
Quinton Aaron. A man catapulted into stardom with speeds quicker then Danica Patrick on a Sunday afternoon. Quinton's portrayal of NFL star, Michael Oher in The Blind Side was a pure moment of absolute inspiration, to say the least.
Quinton was born in the Bronx, and raised in ATL by his mother, author, Lauren Aaron. He found his niche on the stage while other children were hitting balls at the park. Quinton grew up loving the theater, and starred in a number of local plays and on-stage musicals.
Just after high school, Quinton guest starred in a couple television shows before auditioning for the role that would change the course of his life forever.
His mother read online about a casting call for a movie called The Blind Side. The film was based on the book Blind Side: Evolution of the Game, a true story about NFL player Michael Oher and his adopted family. Quinton had an un-canny resemblance to Oher, and was quickly asked to fly out to Los Angeles for a meeting. Upon completion of his audition, Quinton reached into his pocket and pulled out a business card to hand over to the director. He told Director, John Hancock, he figured he was a long shot to earn the part, however, he'd be happy to offer his services as security personnel for the film. Hancock told him he would keep that in mind.
What happened next was a string of events of heart aches, that manifested the emotions and tribulations that would later be channeled in his portrayal of Michael Oher. Within a year of the audition, Quinton's mother passed. He had very little money to get by, and lived off of nickles and cents. Quinton Aaron and his brother lived in a small apartment without electricity, and in time, with depleting funding, they were left homeless. It was at that moment, his lowest point, with Gods good graces, that he got a phone call from John Hancock. Quinton Aaron got the part. Quinton was cast to play Michael Oher alongside Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side.
What happened next, is a story in-and-of itself. The glittery magic of the inspirational script dusted itself into an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture, and the notoriety that came along with Quinton's portrayal of Michael Oher was flawless. Quinton is up for a 2010 MTV movie award for best break-through Actor. In addition, Quinton was nominated for both a BET and an NAACP Image Award.
Glam Girls Guide to Sports had the opportunity to chat with Quinton while at the NFL Players Premiere League Tournament, in Santa Monica. He stopped by to cheer on his favorite NFL players and stars, while they battled it out on the football field.
Quinton happily posed for pictures, and signed autograph for fans and admirers.
We must say, Quinton Aaron is one of the nicest most humble celeb-stars that we've met. His gratitude for life and it's opportunities is conveyed in every articulate word he says.
